About Acute Accents

How It Started

Acute Accents began in a classroom.

As an English teacher, I watched my students struggle with a surprisingly common problem: they wanted to write properly in Spanish, French, and other languages, but they couldn’t figure out how to type the accent marks. They’d write “Jose” when they meant “José,” or skip the tilde in “mañana” altogether – not because they didn’t know better, but because typing those characters seemed impossible.

I started collecting shortcuts and creating simple guides for my students. What began as a class resource grew into something bigger when I realized how universal this problem was. Students, teachers, professionals, writers – people from all walks of life were searching for the same solutions. If my students needed help with this, so did countless others.

That’s how Acute Accents was born.

Language is powerful. Getting the details right shows respect – for the language, for the people who speak it, and for the message you’re trying to convey.
